What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "Why does the Bible state that no one has seen God, while Daniel and Isaiah are described as having seen Him?"

Answer

While the Bible states that "no man hath seen God at any time," this refers to the fact that no mortal mind can penetrate the veil of His glory, as seeing the full divine presence would result in death for sinful human beings. What Daniel and Isaiah witnessed were "similitudes" and revelations of God’s glory through the Son, who is the "express image of His person" and the one who declares the Father to humanity. These prophetic visions were special, "unclouded views" granted by the Spirit to those whose hearts were stayed on God, often resulting in a profound sense of their own unworthiness and sinfulness.

The Revelation of God in His Son

>

»All that man needs to know or can know of God has been revealed in the life and character of His Son. “No man hath seen God at any time; the only-begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him.” Taking humanity upon Him, Christ came to be one with humanity and at the same time to reveal our heavenly Father to sinful human beings.«

Isaiah's Vision of the Lord’s Glory

>

»Isaiah had an unclouded view of this glory when he described the Lord sitting upon the throne that was high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple. ... The seraphim dwelt in the presence of Jesus, yet they veiled with their wings their faces and their feet. They looked upon the King in His beauty, and covered themselves. When Isaiah saw the glory of God, his soul was prostrated in the dust. Because of the unclouded vision he was graciously permitted to behold, he was filled with self-abasement.«

Daniel's Vision of the Father and Son

>

»At the age of eighty-five... his eye of faith was so undimmed that at the bidding of Michael, Gabriel could carry Daniel into heaven itself, there to behold the Father and Son in the final work of the sanctuary above. ... Daniel’s heart was with God, hence things which eye hath not seen nor ear heard, could be revealed unto him by the Spirit. God said by the prophet Hosea, “I have spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.”«

The Moral Impact of Beholding Divine Holiness

>

»It was the same presence of divine holiness that had caused the prophet Daniel to fall as one dead before the angel of God. He said, “My comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.” So when Isaiah beheld the glory of the Lord, he exclaimed, “Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips... for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.” Humanity, with its weakness and sin, was brought in contrast with the perfection of divinity, and he felt altogether deficient and unholy.«

The Mystery of the Incarnation as a Revelation

>

»The object of Christ in coming to earth was to reveal God to men so that they might come to Him. ... In the same connection it is stated, “No man hath seen God at any time; the only-begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him” (or made Him known). Note the expression, “the only-begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father.” He has His abode there, and He is there as a part of the Godhead, as surely when on earth as when in heaven.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
