Ellen Gould White über: "Correct combination of foods in a meal"
Answer
A healthy diet begins with the proper combination of foods to avoid digestive disturbances and fermentation processes in the stomach. It is recommended not to eat fruit and vegetables in the same meal, and to limit the number of different dishes to three or four per meal. Particularly critical is the combination of milk and a lot of sugar, as this easily leads to fermentation and can contaminate the blood. Simplicity is an essential component of the health reform, because too many different foods overload the stomach and impair mental clarity. Knowledge of these relationships is regarded as wisdom from God.
Separation of fruit and vegetables
It is not good to eat fruit and vegetables in the same meal. When digestion is weak, using both often causes discomfort and the inability to engage in mental effort. It is better to eat fruit in one meal and vegetables in another.
Avoidance of excessive variety
There should be no great variety in any meal, for this leads to overeating and causes digestive disturbances. [...] Do not take too many different foods in one meal; three or four dishes are sufficient.
Harmful mixtures of milk and sugar
Some use milk and a large amount of sugar on porridge and think that they are implementing the health reform with it. But sugar and milk combined tend to cause fermentation in the stomach, and are therefore harmful.
Consequences of improper food combinations
When several types of foods are eaten in the same meal, digestive disturbance is often the result. Some foods do not get along with others. Improper food combinations cause a disorder, fermentation begins, the blood becomes contaminated, and the brain becomes confused.
Problematic combination of sweets and vegetables
Puddings, cream dishes, sweet cake, and vegetables, all served in the same meal, cause a disturbance in the stomach.
Benefits of simplicity
In all restaurants in our cities there is a danger that the combination of many foods in the served dishes is taken too far. The stomach suffers when so many types of foods are taken in one meal. Simplicity is a part of the health reform.
