Adventistische Schriften über: "Meaning of the Call from Babylon in the End Times"
Answer
The call from Babylon is the final warning to humanity to separate from fallen religious systems before the divine plagues break upon them. Since Babylon has undergone a moral fall and has become a dwelling of evil spirits, God's faithful children must leave this community so as not to partake in its sins. This call merges with the third angelic message into a worldwide illumination that prepares for the impending destruction of Babylon.
The Final Warning and Separation from Babylon
Concerning Babylon, as presented in the time of this prophecy, it is declared: “Its sins reach up to heaven, and God has taken account of its iniquities.” [...] It has reached the full measure of its guilt, and destruction is imminent. Yet God still has a people in Babylon; and before the visitation by His judgments, these faithful must be called out so that they “may not partake of its sins and not receive its plagues.” Hence the movement, symbolized by the angel who comes down from heaven, illuminating the earth with his glory and calling with a mighty voice, proclaiming the sins of Babylon. In connection with his message, the call is heard: “Go out from it, my people.” These announcements, together with the third angelic message, constitute the final warning given to the inhabitants of the earth.
Babylon “falls” before it is violently “cast down,” like a millstone thrown into the sea, and is “completely burned with fire.” The fall is therefore a moral fall; for after the fall the voice addresses the people of God who are still in its fellowship: “Go out from it, my people”; and the reason is immediately given: “so that you may not partake of its sins and so that you may not receive its plagues.” Thus Babylon still exists after the fall to sin, and its plagues are still future.
The duty of God's people is clearly expressed: “Go out from it, my people, so that you may not become partakers of its sins and so that you may not receive its plagues.” Its sins reach up to heaven, and God has taken account of its iniquities. It has allied itself with the kings of the earth and relied on the arm of the flesh rather than on the Lord of hosts. For this protection it has smoothed away the terrible threats of God's word against sin... If we do not want to partake in its sins and thus not partake in the plagues that will soon be poured out upon it, we must heed the voice from heaven: “Go out from it, my people.”
This message seemed to be an addition to the third message and joined with it, as the midnight call in 1844 joined with the second angelic message. The glory of God rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly proclaimed the final solemn warning by proclaiming the fall of Babylon and calling God's people to go out of it so that they might escape its terrible fate.
The people of God are called out of Babylon so that the plagues which God will send upon it will not also fall upon them. [...] These plagues are listed as death, mourning, and hunger as well as total destruction by fire. [...] It is evident that these plagues have not yet come upon it. The hour of Babylon's judgment [...] is still future. Therefore the warning concerning Babylon must necessarily refer to the generation that will be alive when its plagues come upon it.
This points to the time when the church, as a result of rejecting the triple warning of Revelation 14, will fully reach the condition predicted by the second angel, and the people of God who are still in Babylon will be called to separate from its fellowship. This message is the last that will ever be given to the world; and it will complete its work.
