Adventistische Schriften über: "Meaning of Jesus as the Firstborn of Creation"

Answer

Jesus is called the "Firstborn of all creation," which does not mean that he is a created being. Rather, this title describes his position as Creator, who existed before all things and through whom everything was created. He is the begotten Son of God, who proceeded from the nature of the Father and thus possesses divine attributes as well as authority over the entire universe.

Christ is Creator, not Creature

We should not imagine that Christ is a creature because Paul calls Him "the firstborn of all creation," for the immediately following verses show that He is the Creator and not a creature. ... If He created everything that has ever been created, and existed before all created things, it is evident that He Himself does not belong to the created things. He stands above the entire creation and is not part of it.

The Origin of the Son in Eternity

Holy Scripture explains that Christ is the "begotten Son of God." He is begotten, not created. ... There was a time when Christ proceeded from God ..., but that time lies so far back in the days of eternity that it is practically without beginning for finite understanding.

Christ as Head and Originator of Creation

In Revelation 3:14 He refers to Himself with a title that translators have rendered as "the beginning of God's creation" ... whereas the meaning of the word rather suggests the idea of "preeminence" and presents Him not as the "beginning" but as the Originator (author) of God's creation. ... No work of creation was accomplished until Christ stepped onto the plan as an active agency; for all this work was effected through Him.

Divine Nature by Inheritance

The point is that Christ is a begotten Son and not a created subordinate. He has, by inheritance, a superior name to the angels. ... Since He is the begotten Son of God, He is of the same substance and nature as God and possesses, by birth, all the attributes of God.

The Authority of the Firstborn

With respect to everything else ... He stood before them all as an uncreated being who originates from God ... as the "begotten Son" of the "Father". ... On the basis of this relationship it need not be specially mentioned that all worlds and dominions, all ranks and orders of beings, are under His authority and subject to His will.
