Adventistische Schriften über: "Biblical Foundations for Sabbath Rest"
Answer
The Origin of the Sabbath in Creation
»Just as the Sabbath, the week also had its origin in creation and has been preserved for us through biblical history. God Himself set the first week as a pattern for successive weeks until the end of time. Like every other, it consisted of seven literal days. Six days were used for the work of creation; on the seventh God rested, and He blessed that day and set it apart as a day of rest for humanity.«
The Confirmation in God's Law
»The commandment requires observance of the Lord's Sabbath, which is the day on which God rested at the beginning and blessed and sanctified it because He rested from His work on it. ... The Bible recognizes no other weekly Sabbath than that of the fourth commandment. Sabbath means rest, and God never rested on more than one day; He never blessed more than one day, and He never commanded the observance of any other weekday.«
The Sabbath as a Memorial of Creative Power
»God has commanded that the Sabbath be observed as a memorial day of His creative power and work. ... When the Lord states that He created the world in six days and rested on the seventh day, He means a day of twenty‑four hours, marked by the rising and setting of the sun.«
A Sign of Sanctification and Redemption
»On His own day He preserves for the family the opportunity for fellowship with Him, with nature, and with one another. ... The Sabbath is a sign of creative and redemptive power; it points to God as the source of life and knowledge; it recalls the original glory of humanity and thus testifies to God's intention to recreate us in His own image.«
Meaning of the Word Sabbath
»1. The Ten Commandments are recognized in both Testaments. 2. The term Sabbath means rest. 3. God made the seventh day His Sabbath by resting on that day; and 4. Because He rested, He blessed and sanctified it. Conclusion: The Sabbath of the fourth commandment is expressly declared as God's day of rest; God's day of rest originated in creation.«
The Spiritual Dimension of Sabbath Rest
»Sabbath means rest, and God never rested on more than one day. ... It is not the physical but the spiritual needs of humanity that are considered in the Sabbath commandment. It is intended as a day on which God is worshiped—a day of holy remembrance of Him and of reflection on His works. The day is to be kept holy.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
