Adventistische Schriften über: "Wrong Choice of Partner: Danger to Eternal Life"
Answer
The decision to enter into marriage with an unbeliever is described as a serious danger to spiritual life and eternal salvation. Such unions often lead to the gradual undermining of faith, as the believing partner is constantly exposed to an opposing influence. Ultimately, many people risk heaven and their relationship with Christ for an earthly companionship that has no interest in the saving truth.
Danger to Spiritual Life
Hundreds have sacrificed Christ and heaven as a result of marrying unconverted persons. Could it be that love and fellowship with Christ are of such little value to them that they prefer the company of poor mortals? Is heaven so undervalued that they are willing to risk its joys for someone who has no love for the precious Savior?
The Gradual Loss of Faith
It is a dangerous matter to enter into a worldly covenant. Satan knows precisely that the hour which witnesses the marriage of many young men and women concludes the story of their religious experience and usefulness. They are lost to Christ. They may try for a time to lead a Christian life, but all their striving occurs against a constant influence in the opposite direction.
Spiritual Decline After Marriage
Spiritual decline begins the moment the vow is placed on the altar; religious zeal is dampened, and one stronghold after another is demolished until both stand side by side under Satan's black banner. [...] The bride and the groom have chosen each other and have forsaken Jesus.
Contrasting Paths to Life and Death
Should someone who seeks glory, honor, immortality, and eternal life enter into a relationship with someone who refuses to enlist in the ranks of the soldiers of Christ's cross? [...] While one of these closely bound individuals is engaged in devotion, the other is indifferent and carefree; while one seeks the path to eternal life, the other is on the broad road to death.
The Undermining of Trust
Many now lose their interest and trust in the truth because they have brought unbelief into close connection with themselves. They breathe an atmosphere of doubt, questioning, and unfaithfulness. They see and hear unbelief and eventually nurture it themselves.
