What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "Will the tree of life, when the earth is newly created, be reestablished together with the Garden of Eden on the new earth? Will the tree not be placed in the New Jerusalem and will the leaves of the tree serve for healing if someone becomes ill?"

Answer

The tree of life, which originally was in the Garden of Eden, was taken up to heaven and will stand in the new earth in the New Jerusalem. It grows there on both banks of the river of life that flows from the throne of God.

The leaves of the tree do not serve to heal diseases in the conventional sense, because on the new earth there will be neither pain nor curse. Rather, the leaves are described as a service to the nations that heals the “scars and wounds” of sin and sustains eternal life.

The Tree of Life in the New Jerusalem

»In the city there was a most magnificent throne, from which a pure stream of the water of life flowed, clear as crystal. On each side of this river stood the tree of life, and on the banks of the river were other beautiful trees that bore fruit, which were good for food.«

From the Earthly Eden to the Heavenly Garden

»The true tree of Eden was taken up to heaven; but its branches are depicted as if they were hanging earthward... It will actually bloom in the new earth and bear its fruit every month, twelve kinds of fruit that will satisfy every need of the spiritual being. There will be no lack. “The leaves of the tree served to heal the peoples”.«

No Disease on the New Earth

»This cannot be understood as if anyone in a sick or deformed condition would enter the city to require healing; for then the conclusion would follow that there would always be persons in that condition there... but the notion of disease and deformity in the immortal state contradicts the explicit statements of other scriptures.«

Healing from the Consequences of Sin

»The “scars and wounds” caused by eating the fruit [of the tree of knowledge] will be healed by the leaves of the tree of life. ... The whole dispute of six thousand years arose when man ate from the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.«

  • What does the healing of the nations by the leaves mean?
  • Where is the Garden of Eden today?
  • What role do the monthly fruits of the tree of life play?

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
