What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "Will atheism or communism recur at the end of time as they did during the French Revolution?"
Answer
According to Uriah Smith’s prophetic interpretation, causes that also preceded the French Revolution will recur at the end of time. He explicitly mentions communism and also describes a renewed spread of atheism; he means a recurrence of similar developments, not necessarily an identical sequence of events.
Atheism and recurring causes
»Millions in Christian lands are turning away from the gospel and embracing false religions and atheism. […] Causes that in the past led to anarchy […] will, if allowed to operate, once again produce the same results. […] The same causes that were at work in France a hundred years ago are at work everywhere today.«
Communism and the French Revolution
»In addition to this, there is […] socialism […] and communism, which are zealously spreading their principles among the masses. These are precisely the principles that were at work among the people immediately before the terrible French Revolution of 1789–1800. Human nature is the same in all ages, and like causes are sure to produce like effects. These causes are all active now.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
