What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "Why is a buck offered as a sin offering in Leviticus 10:16, and could a one‑year‑old lamb or a cattle have been offered instead?"

Answer

In the Israelite sacrificial system there were specific instructions for the various kinds of sin offerings, with goats expressly designated for the people of Israel. God gave precise regulations for each type of sacrifice, and for the holiness of the service it was essential that these instructions be strictly observed. While priests were often required to offer fawns (young bulls), goats were presented as sin offerings for the people or individual rulers.

Divine Instructions for the Sacrificial Animals

»The Lord gave the most specific instructions regarding the offering of sacrifices; but these godless men [the sons of Eli] brought their disregard for authority into the service of God and gave no heed to the law of offerings that were to be presented in the most solemn manner... Since the sacrifices pointed to the death of Christ, it was of utmost importance that the Lord’s instructions concerning these offerings be strictly observed.«

Different Animals for Different Sin Offerings

»For the offerings they used five kinds of animals: fawns, goats, sheep, turtledoves and pigeons; and among the principal sacrifices were sin offerings, guilt offerings, burnt offerings, food and drink offerings, and peace offerings... Under the Jewish order the sacrificial system was expanded and perfected. In particular the sin offering was now introduced, becoming one of the most prominent and important offerings of the entire service.«

Goat Bucks as Sin Offerings for the People

»He [the high priest] then received from the children of Israel two goat bucks as sin offerings... Then he was to slaughter the buck on which the lot of the Lord had fallen, as a sin offering for the people, and bring its blood behind the veil.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
