Adventistische Schriften über: "Why does the God of the Old Testament seem to differ so much from the God of the New Testament?"
Answer
According to the Scriptures there is no actual contradiction between God in the Old and the New Testament; the same Redeemer, Jesus Christ, already led His people in the Old Covenant and walked with the believers of ancient times. The apparent difference arises because God's mercy and the plan of redemption in the Old Testament were initially revealed in a veiled form through types, shadows, and sacrificial rites, whereas the New Testament displays the fully unfolded, clearer glory of Christ. The New Testament does not bring a new religion, but is the development and fulfillment of the same gospel.
No Disharmony Between the Old and New Testament
»There is no disharmony between the Old and the New Testament. In the Old Testament we find the gospel of a coming Redeemer; in the New Testament we have the gospel of a Redeemer who has been revealed, as the prophecies had foretold. While the Old Testament constantly points to the true sacrifice, the New Testament shows that the Redeemer prefigured by the exemplary sacrifices has come. The dim glory of the Jewish age was replaced by the brighter, clearer glory of the Christian age. [...] The types and shadows of the sacrificial service gave the Israelites, together with the prophecies, a veiled, indistinct view of the mercy and grace that the world was to receive through the revelation of Christ.«
The Same Lord and Savior in Both Ages
»The New Testament does not represent a new religion; the Old Testament does not represent a religion that is to be replaced by the New. The New Testament is merely the development and unfolding of the Old. [...] That God who walked with Enoch was our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was then, just as He is today, the Light of the world. Those who lived then were not without teachers who instructed them on the path of life; for Noah and Enoch were Christians.«
Both Testaments Reveal the Glory of God in Christ
»The Old Testament sheds light on the New, and the New on the Old. Each is a revelation of the glory of God in Christ. Christ, as He was revealed to the patriarchs, embodied in the sacrificial service, presented in the law, and proclaimed through the prophets, is the wealth of the Old Testament. Christ in His life, His death, and His resurrection; Christ, as He is revealed through the Holy Spirit, is the treasure of the New.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
