What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "Why does the Bible state that no one has seen God, while Daniel, Isaiah, and John are described as having seen Him?"

Answer

The Bible states that no man has seen God because His full glory is so overwhelming that it would be fatal to mortal beings. However, prophets like Daniel, Isaiah, and John were granted special visions where God’s majesty was veiled or shown through "similitudes" to protect them. Ultimately, the Father is perfectly revealed through Jesus Christ, who took on human form so that humanity could behold the divine character without being destroyed.

The Veil of Mercy

»It is a proof of His mercy that there is the hiding of His power; for to lift the veil that conceals the divine presence is death. No mortal mind can penetrate the secrecy in which the Mighty One dwells and works. Only that which He sees fit to reveal can we comprehend of Him.«

Visions and Similitudes

»God said by the prophet Hosea, “I have spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.” ... Gabriel could carry Daniel into heaven itself, there to behold the Father and Son in the final work of the sanctuary above. Moses once saw these things from the top of Mount Horeb ... and so great was the glory that he veiled his face before the common people could behold him.«

Isaiah’s Vision of Glory

»Christ was the centre and the glory of the ancient dispensation. From time to time He drew aside the vail and revealed the glory behind it. Isaiah had an unclouded view of this glory when he described the Lord sitting upon the throne that was high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple. ... When Isaiah saw the glory of God, his soul was prostrated in the dust.«

The Effect of Vision on the Prophet

»The effect of the Spirit upon a human being when in vision is unexplainable. There is an overpowering presence which so overcomes the physical being that it has no strength to act of itself. The breath leaves the body, and the voice of God speaks through the human instrument. ... He is often taken far beyond the bounds of earth as was the case of Ezekiel, John, and Paul.«

Christ as the Visible Revelation

»All that man needs to know or can know of God has been revealed in the life and character of His Son. “No man hath seen God at any time; the only-begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him.” Taking humanity upon Him, Christ came to be one with humanity and at the same time to reveal our heavenly Father to sinful human beings.«

Future Face-to-Face Communion

»Now we “see through a glass, darkly.” We behold the image of God reflected, as in a mirror, in the works of nature and in his dealings with men; but then we shall see him face to face, without a dimming veil between. We shall stand in his presence, and behold the glory of his countenance.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
