Adventistische Schriften über: "Why does God allow violence? Ellen White suffering"

Answer

God permits suffering and difficult experiences in order to refine human character and free it from selfishness and hidden faults. These trials serve as the “School of Christ,” where patience, humility, and a deeper trust in God are to be developed.

In this, suffering is never a sign of God’s forgetfulness; rather He watches over each trial like a goldsmith watches the metal in the furnace, ensuring that only impurities are removed. Ultimately these things happen to prepare people for service on earth and for eternal fellowship with God.

The Furnace of Tribulation as a Refining Process

»God allows trials to come upon His people so that, through their perseverance and obedience, they may be spiritually enriched and their example become a source of strength for others. ... The very trials that challenge our faith most severely and seem to indicate that God has abandoned us are meant to draw us nearer to Christ, so that we may lay all our burdens at His feet and experience the peace He gives us in return. God has always tested His people in the furnace of tribulation. In the heat of the furnace, the dross is separated from the true gold of the Christian character. Jesus observes the testing; He knows what is needed to cleanse the precious metal so that it may reflect the brilliance of His love.«

Purpose of Suffering and Catastrophes

»The Lord permits suffering and misfortune to come upon men and women in order to call us out of our selfishness and awaken in us the attributes of His character. ... He allows no tribulation to come upon His children that is not essential for their present and eternal welfare. He will cleanse His church just as Christ cleansed the temple during His earthly ministry. Everything He brings as trial and test upon His people is done so that they may attain deeper piety and greater strength to advance the victories of the cross.«

Why God Allows Persecution by the Ungodly

»The mysterious providence that allows the righteous to suffer persecution at the hands of the ungodly has been a source of great distress for many who are weak in faith. ... God has given us ample evidence of His love, and we should not doubt His goodness because we cannot understand the workings of His providence. ... He does not forget or neglect His children; rather He permits the ungodly to reveal their true character so that no one who wishes to do His will is deceived by them. Moreover, the righteous are cast into the furnace of tribulation so that they themselves may be purified; that their example may convince others of the reality of faith and godliness.«

God’s Compassionate Care in Pain

»It is true that disappointments will come; we must expect tribulation; but we should commit everything, great or small, to God. He is not confused by the variety of our complaints, nor overwhelmed by the weight of our worries. His protective care extends to every household and embraces each individual; He is personally involved in all our affairs and concerns. He counts every tear; He is moved by the feeling of our weaknesses. All tribulations and trials that afflict us here are permitted to bring about His loving purposes toward us—“that we may become partakers of His holiness” and thus participants in the fullness of joy found in His presence.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
