Jesus devoted even more time to healing the sick than to preaching, because He wanted to serve people in their entirety—body and soul. By relieving physical suffering, He prepared the way so that people could become receptive to the spiritual truths of His message.
The healings served to win people's trust, to show His compassion, and to practically demonstrate the saving power of the gospel. In this way He inseparably linked the redemption from sin with the restoration of health.
