What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "While Joseph was in prison, Pharaoh's cupbearer and Pharaoh's chief baker each had a dream on the same night. The cupbearer dreamed of a vine with three branches that budded, blossomed, and produced ripe grapes. He took the grapes, squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand. Joseph interpreted this to mean that the three branches represented three days. Within three days, Pharaoh would lift up the cupbearer's head and restore him to his position, so that he would again place the cup in Pharaoh's hand, as he had done before when he was his cupbearer. The chief baker dreamed that he was carrying three baskets of white bread on his head, and in the top basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating them out of the basket on his head. Joseph interpreted this to mean that the three baskets represented three days. Within three days, Pharaoh would lift off his head and hang him on a wooden pole, and the birds would eat his flesh. And it came to pass on the third day, Pharaoh's birthday, that he gave a feast for all his servants and lifted up the heads of the cupbearer and the baker among his servants. He restored the cupbearer to his position, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand; but he had the baker hanged, just as Joseph had interpreted to them. Yet the cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him."
Answer
The story relates that although Pharaoh's cupbearer found Joseph's interpretation of his dream credible and returned to his position, he did not mention Joseph again and completely forgot him. Ellen G. White highlighted this lack of gratitude as an example of the gravest sin of ingratitude. At the same time, the chief baker, whose dream foreshadowed his execution, was executed as Joseph had predicted.
Chief cupbearer forgets Joseph after his restoration (Patriarchs and Prophets)
»The cupbearer saw the dream fulfilled in every particular; but when he was restored to royal favor, he gave no further thought to his benefactor.«
Chief cupbearer forgets Joseph (The Spirit of Prophecy)
»And it came to pass ... yet the cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.«
