What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "Which prophets admonished God's people yet sinned themselves?"
Answer
The Holy Scripture faithfully records the sins and weaknesses of those men who were called by God to warn and guide His people. Among the prophets and leaders who admonished the people yet themselves fell to temptation or sinned are, among others, Moses (who became impatient at the rock and did not sanctify God), Jonah (through his disobedience) and Elijah (whose courage waned in severe trial). Their failings were recorded as instruction and warning for subsequent generations, to show that God is impartial, does not justify sin, but forgives the repentant.
The Weaknesses of the Prophets and Messengers of God
»The pen of inspiration faithfully reports, in accordance with its task, the sins that overwhelmed Noah, Lot, Moses, Abraham, David, and Solomon, and that even Elijah's strong spirit fell under temptation during his dreadful trial. Jonah's disobedience and Israel's idolatry are truthfully recorded. Peter's denial of Christ, the sharp dispute between Paul and Barnabas, the errors and weaknesses of the prophets and apostles are all revealed by the Holy Spirit... God sent His prophets to warn the guilty, denounce their sins, and pronounce judgment upon them.«
Moses' Failure Despite His Exemplary and Leadership Role
»During all their wanderings, when they complained about the difficulties on the way and grumbled against their leader, Moses had said to them: “Your grumbling is against God. Not I, but God has effected your deliverance.” Yet his premature words before the rock: “Shall we bring forth water?” were a factual admission of their accusation and thus confirmed them in their unbelief... But when it was declared that Moses and Aaron, because of this one sin, should not enter Canaan, the people knew that God does not overlook the person and that He will certainly punish the transgressor.«
Moses and Aaron Failed Before the Congregation
»When they angrily shouted: “Must we bring forth water from this rock for you?”, they placed themselves in God’s stead, as if the power lay within themselves—people with human weaknesses and passions. Tired from the constant grumbling and rebellion of the people, Moses lost sight of his almighty Helper... God was dishonored before the congregation of Israel, while He should have been glorified and exalted. All the rebuke fell upon the leaders. Those who stood as God’s representatives had not honored Him.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
