What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "Where is the quotation from LNV in which she describes how diet affects our nerves, how a poor diet makes us less receptive to the influence of the Holy Spirit, and how it hinders our spiritual growth?"
Answer
The closest reference is Counsels on Diet and Foods, CD 55.3 (paraId 384.424). There, White links unhealthy eating with strain on the nerves and says that God cannot let His Holy Spirit rest upon people who persist in a health-damaging diet despite knowing better. The wording about hampered spiritual growth seems also to draw on a related statement in Counsels on Health, CH 133.3.
Diet, the nerves, and the Holy Spirit
»Ministers should, above all others, economize the strength of the brain and nerves. They should avoid all food and drink that have a tendency to irritate or excite the nerves. Excitement is followed by depression; excess clouds the mind and makes clear thinking difficult. No one can be a successful worker in spiritual things until he observes strict temperance in his habits of diet. God cannot let His Holy Spirit rest upon those who, while knowing how they should eat to be healthy, persist in a course that weakens mind and body.«
Related statement on growth in grace
»The health of the body is to be regarded as essential for growth in grace and the development of an even temper. […] Brain and nerves are in communication with the stomach. Erroneous eating and drinking result in erroneous thinking and acting.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
