Adventistische Schriften über: "Where in the Bible does it say that there will be a first and a second resurrection in connection with the 1000 years?"

Answer

The Bible describes the period of 1,000 years (the Millennium) in Revelation 20, with the first resurrection marking the beginning and the second resurrection marking the end of this period. At the beginning the “Blessed and Holy” are raised to reign with Christ, while “the rest of the dead” are revived only after the 1,000 years have passed. These two events separate the resurrection of the righteous from the resurrection of the wicked by exactly this thousand‑year interval.

The Order of the Resurrections According to Revelation 20

»The special scriptural passage that defines the thousand years—the Millennium—is Revelation 20. [...] In this scripture it says that Satan is to be bound and confined for a thousand years and that the saints will live and reign with Christ for a thousand years. “But the rest of the dead were not revived until the thousand years were completed. This (the life of the saints) is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has a share in the first resurrection; the second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.” From these words we know that the event that marks the beginning of the Millennium is “the first resurrection.”«

Two Resurrections Separated by a Thousand Years

»It is therefore certain that the resurrection of the righteous and the resurrection of the wicked are a thousand years apart. It is certain that the resurrection of those over whom the second death has no power occurs a thousand years before the resurrection of those over whom the second death has power. Since this is expressly called the first resurrection and since the rest of the dead—the ones who have no share in the first resurrection—do not live until the thousand years are completed, it follows without doubt that the second resurrection takes place a thousand years after the first.«

The End of the Thousand Years and the Wicked

»At the end of the 1,000 years the second resurrection will take place. Then the wicked will be raised from the dead and appear before God for the execution of the “written judgment.” As the Revelator says: “The rest of the dead were not revived until the thousand years were completed.”«

Distinction of the Resurrection Classes

»There are two resurrections—the first in order is that of the “Blessed and Holy”; and the second is that of the “rest of the dead,” including the unholy. And these two resurrections will be a thousand years apart. [...] Those who have “done good” come forth “to the resurrection of life” at the beginning of the thousand years. (John 5:28‑29). This is “a distinct resurrection” for “a distinct class of persons.” The same applies to those who are raised to life a thousand years later.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
