What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "Where did Nadab and Abihu die: in the Holy Place or in the courtyard?"
Answer
Nadab and Abihu died immediately before the presence of the Lord, as they performed their holy service and offered 'foreign fire.' The reports make clear that they were tasked with bringing the incense into the sanctuary while the people prayed outside. After their death, they were carried out of the camp by Moses' instruction directly from the front of the sanctuary ('away from the sanctuary').
The Death of Nadab and Abihu before the Lord
»Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, who served in the holy priestly office, enjoyed abundant wine and, as was their usual habit, entered to serve before the Lord. ... Aaron's sons took the ordinary fire that God did not accept, and they offended the infinite God by presenting this foreign fire before Him. God consumed them with fire because of their clear disregard of His explicit instructions.«
The Death before the Face of God
»And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his pan, placed fire in it, and laid incense upon it, bringing foreign fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them to. Then fire went out from the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord. ... And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel, Aaron's uncle, and said to them: 'Come forward, carry your brothers out from before the sanctuary to the camp.«
The Fatal Disregard of Sacred Regulations
»At the hour of worship, when the prayers and praise of the people rose to God, two of Aaron's sons each took their incense pan and burned fragrant incense on it so that it would rise as a pleasant aroma before the Lord. But they transgressed His command by using 'foreign fire.' ... For this sin, fire went out from the Lord and consumed them before the eyes of the people.«
