What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "When Saul persecuted the Christians, had them imprisoned and even killed them, he did so without a court, but had authority from the Sanhedrin."

Answer

After the death of Stephen, Saul was elected as a member of the Sanhedrin because of his zeal. In this role he relentlessly persecuted the believers, broke into houses and had men as well as women taken captive. He acted on behalf of the religious leaders and brought the Christians before tribunals where they were sentenced to imprisonment or death.

Saul's Election to the Sanhedrin and the Persecution

»Saul was a highly respected man among the Jews because of his scholarship and his zeal in persecuting the believers. He was not a member of the Sanhedrin council until after Stephen's death, when, in view of the role he had played on that occasion, he was elected to that body.«

Judicial Persecution and Death Sentences

»His activity of dragging holy men and women before tribunals, where some were sentenced to prison and others even to death, solely because of their faith in Jesus, brought sorrow and gloom over the newly organized congregation... That Stephen was not the only one who suffered death is evident from Saul's own words: “And if they were to be killed, I cast my vote against them.”«

Authority for Persecution in Other Cities

»When Saul traveled to Damascus, with letters that authorized him to arrest men or women who preached Jesus and bind them to bring to Jerusalem, evil angels rejoiced around him. But suddenly a light from heaven shone around him.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
