What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "What would Ellen White say about Adventists participating in an ecumenical event, particularly a G20 Interfaith Forum with papal involvement and political influence?"
Answer
Ellen White warns that Adventists participating in an ecumenical event with papal involvement and political influence risk getting involved in a dangerous compromise with the world and the apostate papal power. She emphasizes that true unity is only possible through obedience to God's commands and keeping the Sabbath truth, not by yielding to worldly alliances. Therefore, she advises avoiding such events and maintaining the distinctive identity of Adventists.
Warning Against Compromise and Papal Apostasy
»The reason persecution is hardly noticeable anymore is that the church has adapted to the world standard and therefore cannot provoke resistance. If there were a revival of faith and the power of the early church, the spirit of persecution would be rekindled and the flames of persecution ignited, leading to the establishment of papal power.«
Call to Unity and Keeping the Commandments
»It is true that there are tares among the wheat; evils can be seen in the community of Sabbath keepers, yet we should not disparage the church. The great responsibilities that Christ carries require that we work in harmony: leaders of institutions and churches should take up the work of cleansing so that the church becomes a bright light in the darkness. Given the end of earth's history, God calls all to raise the sign that reads: 'Here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.' He calls His people to work in harmony, unite medical workers with the congregation, cooperate with spiritual leaders and medical missionaries, and urge the congregation to carry the sign of the true Reformation spirit in their region. No word should discourage the believers, for it digs into Christ's heart and pleases the enemy. All must be baptized with the Holy Spirit, avoid derogatory remarks, and draw near to Christ to recognize the heavy burden that those who work with Christ carry. "Press together, press together," are the words of our divine teacher. Unity is strength; division is weakness and defeat.«
