Ellen Gould White über: "What we consider failure and defeat, the Lord can turn into a victory."
Answer
God often uses disappointments and apparent failure as part of His plan to train us and strengthen our character. He can bring about a victory from situations that appear to us as defeat, by teaching us to overcome difficulties and to place deeper trust in Him. Instead of despairing over trials, we should, through faith, recognize that God Himself works our best and our spiritual progress through perceived setbacks.
God's Victory in Apparent Defeat
There is a lesson for us in this experience of Paul, for it reveals God's way of working. The Lord can bring forth victory from what may appear to us as distress and defeat. We are in danger of forgetting God and looking at the visible things, instead of viewing the invisible things with the eye of faith.
God trains some by bringing them disappointment and apparent failure. It is His purpose that they learn to overcome difficulties. He inspires them with the determination to prove every apparent failure as a success.
He may sometimes seem to fail, but his perceived failure to reach the place where he hoped to stand can be God's way of advancing his progress. He thinks he has failed, but his apparent failure means a better self‑understanding and a firmer trust in God.
When you make a mistake, turn your defeat into a victory. The lessons that God sends, when well learned, will bring help at the right time. Place your trust in God. Pray much and believe.
We will encounter disappointments; but it is our privilege to turn every apparent defeat into a victory. ... Instead of complaining about every difficulty, we should fight the good fight of faith and endure hardship as good soldiers of the Cross of Christ.
God often brings victory out of apparent defeat. His goal is that His people grow to the full stature of men and women in Christ.
