What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "What was the significance of the garment of light before the fall?"
Answer
Before the fall, garments of light served as natural clothing for Adam and Eve, reflecting their sinlessness and alignment with God's will. This light was a protective radiance of God's glory, comparable to the clothing of angels, and enabled them to clearly perceive nature and God's character. As long as they obeyed God, this light covering remained, but it vanished immediately after their disobedience.
\n\nA Garment of Light and Glory
\n\n\n\n»The sinless pair wore no artificial garments; they were clothed with a covering of light and glory, just as the angels wear them. As long as they lived in obedience to God, this garment of light continued to envelop them.«
The Illuminating Power of Divine Light
\n\n\n»As a covering, a beautiful light surrounded them, the light of God. This clear and perfect light illuminated everything they approached. Nature was their textbook. In the Garden of Eden, God's existence was proven, His attributes were revealed in the objects of nature that surrounded them.«
The Loss of the Protective Light
\n\n\n»They were not clothed with fabric, but wrapped in light, like the heavenly angels. This light that had surrounded them had faded. To alleviate their sense of lack and nakedness that they now perceived, they turned their attention to seeking a covering for their form, for how could they meet the gaze of God and the angels unclothed?«
The Garment of Light as a Symbol of Holiness
\n\n\n»When Adam and Eve in Eden lost the garments of holiness, they lost the light that had illuminated nature. They could no longer read it properly. But for those who receive the light of Christ's life, nature will be illuminated again.«
A Type for Christ's Righteousness
\n»Before man sinned, he was clothed with a garment of light and glory, and God desires that our clothing remind us of the heavenly garment with which He will ultimately clothe the redeemed.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
