Adventistische Schriften über: "What steps can I take in this case so that the sensuality of this world no longer dominates me?"

Answer

To prevent the sensuality of this world from gaining the upper hand, a conscious separation from its sinful desires and a complete surrender to God are required. Through the grace of Christ and the indwelling of His Spirit, the senses and thoughts must be strictly guarded, so that no impure thought and no appearance of evil is tolerated. A steady prayer life, contemplation of heavenly things, and obedience to God's Word provide the necessary strength to master passions and impulses.

Guarding the Senses and Controlling Passions through Christ's Grace

»Sensuality is the sin of this age. Yet the religion of Jesus Christ will hold the reins of control over every kind of unlawful freedom; the moral forces will hold the reins over every thought, every word, and every action. On the lips of the true Christian no deceit will be found. No impure thought will be entertained, no word spoken that borders on sensuality, and no action performed that even has the slightest appearance of evil. The senses will be guarded. The soul in which Jesus dwells will unfold into true greatness. The discerning soul, which respects all of God's commandments, will, through the grace of Christ, speak to the passions of the heart, while pointing to God's great moral standard of righteousness: “Up to this point you shall come and no further; and here your proud waves shall settle,” and the grace of Christ will be like a fiery wall around the soul.«

Cultivating Purity of Thought and Triumphing through Earnest Prayer

»Your only hope now is to sincerely repent of your past transgressions of God's law and to cleanse your soul through obedience to the truth. Cultivate purity of thought and purity of life. God's grace will be your strength to curb your passions and restrain your desires. Earnest prayer and vigilance will bring the Holy Spirit to assist you in completing the work and making you similar to His unfailing example.«

Separating from the World and Renouncing Harmful Desires

»The world has given itself over to selfishness and licentiousness. “Fleshly desire, the lust of the eyes, and a haughty life” dominate the masses of people. But the followers of Christ have a holier calling. “Go out from them and set yourselves apart,” says the Lord, “and touch no unclean thing.” In the light of God's Word we are entitled to declare that sanctification cannot be genuine unless it entails this complete renunciation of the sinful pursuits and pleasures of the world. ... Every step of faith and obedience brings the soul into a closer connection with the Light of the World, in which “there is not even a hint of darkness.”«

Daily Fellowship with God as a Lifelong Process

»Do we accept the conditions laid down in His Word – the separation from the world? This is not the work of a moment or a day. ... It is a lifelong work. Our devotion to God must be a living principle, intertwined with life, leading to self-denial and self-sacrifice. It must underlie all our thoughts and be the source of every action. This will lift us above the world and separate us from its contaminating influence. ... if we daily receive the power of the future world, maintain fellowship with God, and have the fellowship of the Spirit ... then it will be equally natural for us to strive for purity, holiness, and separation from the world.«

Temperance and Self-Control to Strengthen Spiritual Discernment

»Abstinence in diet and mastery of all passions will preserve the mind and grant spiritual as well as moral strength. They enable a person to bring all his inclinations under the control of higher forces and to distinguish between right and wrong, the holy and the everyday. ... Desires and passions should be restrained and placed under the control of an enlightened conscience, so that the mind remains unimpaired and perceptual powers stay clear, preventing Satan's workings and his snares from being interpreted as God's providence.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
