What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "What specific prayer examples are there from Ellen White?"

Answer

Ellen White often prayed submissively and sought God's will in times of crisis, such as life‑threatening illness or discouragement. A concrete example is her prayer for the sick, in which she emphasized that only God knows the heart and should decide whether a healing would be to His glory. Additionally, personal thanksgiving prayers for preserved vitality as well as earnest intercessions for family members and the church have been recorded.

A submissive prayer for the sick

»Because of these experiences she had adopted a more submissive form of prayer for the sick. Her prayer was: “Lord, we cannot read the heart of this patient; but you know whether it is for the good of his soul and to the honor of your name to awaken him to health.” Mrs. White undoubtedly continued to pray for the sick until the end of her life, but her prayer was more aimed at God's will being done rather than following her own judgment.«

Thanksgiving prayer at the beginning of the year

»I thank my heavenly Father on the first day of this new year that He, in His merciful kindness, has graciously spared my life, which was in obvious danger. Many prayers have risen to God on my behalf. There were several periods of such severe distress that I thought I could not survive the day. For several days now I am gaining strength.«

Intercession for her husband James White

»On a Friday evening we all gathered at Brother Hilliard’s for a family devotion, about a dozen people were present. A chapter was read and Sister White led the prayer, while Brother White knelt slightly opposite her. Her concern in the prayer was for him, and as she prayed she moved on her knees to his side, placed her hands on his shoulders and prayed until she was carried away into a vision.«

Personal pleading for healing

»Every day she took her husband’s arm and hobbled to a sprawling oak behind the house to pray with James Erzberger for the small group of Swiss Sabbath observers and for their healing. Sometimes, when she was alone in her room, she would crawl on her hands and knees into her chamber and plead there to God for healing. During the prayer she felt the certainty that she would be able to attend the meeting.«

Call to earnest personal prayer

»Do not neglect quiet prayer, for it is the soul of religion. Plead with a sincere, fervent prayer for the purity of the soul. Plead as earnestly and as zealously as you would for your mortal life if it were at stake. Remain before God until an unspeakable longing for redemption is awakened within you and the sweet testimony of forgiven sin is attained.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
