Answer
God the Father functions in the Old Testament as the source of all being and all law, who handed the world after the fall into the hands of Christ. He worked in close consultation with His Son in creation and in the plan of redemption, equipping Christ with the authority to carry out His will. Since there has been no direct communication between the Father and humanity since the sin, He revealed His presence and character solely through Christ’s mediatorial role.
God the Father as the Source of Law and Creation
»In all these revelations of the divine presence, the glory of God was manifested through Christ. Not only at the advent of the Savior, but throughout all ages after the fall... God was "in Christ and reconciled the world to Himself." ... Since the sin of our first parents there has been no direct communication between God and humanity. The Father placed the world into the hands of Christ so that He, through His mediatorial work, could redeem humanity and defend the authority and holiness of God's law.«
