Adventistische Schriften über: "What is the instruction regarding the practice of intercessory sacrifice when Job offered sacrifices for his children? May a father, according to Adventist teaching, offer a sacrifice for his child?"

Answer

According to Adventist teaching, Job is presented as a model “faithful priest of the household,” who interceded on behalf of his children by offering individual sacrifices. While today no animal sacrifices are offered, Christian parents are called to apply this principle through the daily “morning and evening sacrifice” of prayer and praise. In this way, parents act as intercessors, binding their children to the altar of faith to place them under God’s protection.

Job as the Faithful Priest of the Household

»Job did not neglect his duty toward those outside his household; he was benevolent, kind, and considerate of the interests of others; at the same time he earnestly worked for the salvation of his own family. Amid the celebrations of his sons and daughters, he trembled, fearing that his children might displease God. As the faithful priest of the household, he offered individual sacrifices for them. He knew the insulting character of sin, and the thought that his children might forget the divine claims led him, as an intercessor, to bring them before God.«

The Morning and Evening Sacrifice in the Christian Home

»In every Christian home, God should be honored through the morning and evening sacrifices of prayer and praise. Children should be taught to respect and cherish the hour of prayer. It is the duty of Christian parents to, morning and evening, draw a protective hedge around their children through earnest prayer and steadfast faith. ... Come in humility, with a heart full of tenderness and with awareness of the temptations and dangers that lie before you and your children; bind them in faith to the altar and pray for them for the Lord’s care.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
