Adventistische Schriften über: "What is the Holy Covenant?"
Answer
In Adventist writings, the “Holy Covenant” refers to different but interconnected concepts of divine order and fidelity. It is defined on the one hand as the written Word of God (the Bible) and on the other as the law of God (the Ten Commandments), which form the basis of the relationship between God and His people. It also includes the eternal covenant of grace that God made with Abraham and which is affirmed through baptism as a personal promise of obedience.
The Bible as the Holy Covenant
»The Bible, the holy covenant, was in their assessment the primary source of error, and the right of every Christian to read and interpret the Word of God themselves had to be denied and restricted. ... The Roman Church abandoned God's Word and turned to the decisions of general councils and popes as infallible leaders in all matters of faith and practice.«
God's Law as the Basis of the Covenant
»God's law is our covenant with our Creator, in life, in death, in resurrection, and throughout eternity. Our loyalty to God, by obeying the Ten Commandments in spirit and letter, reveals to the world, to the angels, and to humanity our covenant relationship with Him.«
The Covenant of Promise with Abraham
»God has assured us that it is possible to serve Him in holiness: “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; for He has visited and redeemed His people, ... to show the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant; the oath He swore to our father Abraham.”«
The Baptismal Covenant as a Holy Promise
»The world has no claim on our service; for through a solemn, holy covenant we received God's service badge at the time of our baptism. On that occasion we committed, in the presence of the three great heavenly powers, to come out of the world and be set apart.«
The Ten Commandments as Covenant Content
»The Ten Commandments were God's covenant before the covenant with Israel was established. They were not a negotiated agreement, but something that God commanded them to do, and He promised them something, provided they kept them. Thus the Ten Commandments – God's covenant – became the basis of the covenant made between Him and Israel.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
