Adventistische Schriften über: "What is the description and nature of the divine character?"

Answer

The divine character is described as a perfect unity of love, mercy, and justice, most clearly visible in Jesus Christ. The nature of God includes attributes such as power, wisdom, purity, and unlimited goodness, with self‑sacrificial love as the central element. God's holy law serves as a written expression of His unchanging character and reveals His will toward humanity.

Christ as the embodiment of the divine character

»Christ came to reveal to the world God as a God of love, full of mercy, tenderness, and compassion. ... In His noble character, in His mercy and tender compassion, in His love and goodness He stands before us as the embodiment of divine perfection, the image of the invisible God.«

The law as a copy of God's character

»The law of God, which is a revelation of His will, a copy of His character, must remain forever, "as a faithful witness in heaven." ... Satan had tried to prove that God was unjust, that His law was faulty, and that the welfare of the universe required a change of it. By attacking the law, he aimed to overthrow the authority of its Author.«

The harmony of justice and mercy

»God's love has been expressed in His justice no less than in His mercy. Justice is the foundation of His throne and the fruit of His love. ... Yet Christ shows that they are inseparably linked in God's plan; one cannot exist without the other. Grace and truth have met each other, justice and peace have kissed.«

God's attributes in His Son

»God embodied His own attributes in His Son—His power, His wisdom, His goodness, His purity, His truthfulness, His spirituality, and His goodwill. In Him, though human, dwelt all the perfection of character, all divine excellence.«

The glory of self‑less love

»It will become clear that the glory shining in the presence of Jesus is the glory of sacrificial love. In the light of Golgotha one will see that the law of self‑denying love is the law of life for earth and heaven; that love which "does not seek its own," has its origin in the heart of God.«

God as a personal being

»God is a spirit; yet He is a personal being, for man was created in His image. God's workmanship in nature is not God Himself in nature. The things of nature are an expression of God's character; through them we can understand His love, His power, and His glory; but we must not regard nature as God.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
