Adventistische Schriften über: "What is the Day of the Lord? When does it begin?"
Answer
The "Day of the Lord" is described as a day of divine, supernatural intervention, in which God overthrows His enemies and ushers in an age of bliss for His people. It is regarded as the Day of Judgment, often identified with the seventh millennium of world history. This day begins even before the actual Second Coming of Christ in the clouds of heaven and is announced by signs as well as the pouring out of the bowls of wrath.
Divine Intervention and the End of the World
Many prophetic books of the Old Testament contain passages that describe "the Day of the Lord," "the last day," or "that day." This Day of the Lord is the day of divine, supernatural intervention, through which God overthrows His—meaning Israel's—enemies and initiates the era of future bliss for His people.
The Beginning before the Second Coming
And the sixth angel poured out his bowl upon the great river Euphrates... Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is he who watches and preserves his garments, so that he does not go naked and his shame is seen" Rev. 16:12-15. These passages indicate that the "Day of the Lord" begins before the actual coming of Christ in the clouds of heaven.
The Day of the Lord as the Seventh Millennium
The Almighty God has set a day on which He will judge the inhabitants of our globe: This day appears, based on everything we can glean from the Bible, to be the 7th millennium since creation. I believe it is generally accepted that the 1,000 years mentioned in six consecutive verses in chapter 20 of Revelation constitute this 7th millennium.
A Day of Wrath and Darkness
Blow the trumpet in Zion and shout loudly on my holy mountain! All inhabitants of the land tremble; for the Day of the Lord is coming and is near, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and mist." "The Day of the Lord is great and very terrible; who can endure it?
Sudden Destruction like a Thief
The Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with great crashing, the elements will melt from heat, and the earth and the works upon it will be burned... But you, beloved, since you know this in advance, guard yourselves so that you are not swept away by the error of the ungodly.
The Characteristics of the Day
This day is called in Holy Scripture "the great and terrible day." It is referred to as "the day of the Lord's tumult, the day of His grim and fierce wrath"... It is called "a day of wrath, a day of tribulation and fear, a day of storm and desolation, a day of darkness and gloom".
