Adventistische Schriften über: "What is a false teacher?"

Answer

A false teacher (or errant teacher) is someone who does not teach in accordance with the law and the testimony of the Holy Scriptures, but spreads harmful errors and theories that lead people away from the word of God. Often false teachers appear under the guise of Christianity and the appearance of piety, yet they twist the Scriptures through mystical or divisive interpretations and reject God's commandments. They deceive souls by clouding the plain meaning of the Bible and substituting human fables for the truth.

Characteristics of a false teacher

»Some may ask: What makes a false teacher? We answer that a false teacher is someone who does not speak or teach according to the law and the testimony, the ten living principles of the constitution which encompass the whole duty of man. They call this moral law a yoke of servitude and promise FREEDOM to those who obey their teaching and abandon the law, “while they themselves are slaves of destruction.”«

Obscuring the clear biblical truth

»The truths most clearly revealed in the Bible have been shrouded in doubt and darkness by learned men who, under the pretense of great wisdom, teach that the Scriptures have a mystical, secret, spiritual meaning that is not evident in the language used. These men are false teachers. To such a group Jesus declared: “You err because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.”«

Wolves in sheep’s clothing with the appearance of piety

»Christ warned us about these: “Watch out for false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you will recognize them.” The class of religious teachers described here pretends to be Christians. They have the appearance of godliness and seem to care for the welfare of souls ... They stand in opposition to Christ and His teachings and lack His gentle and humble spirit.«

Spreaders of soul-destroying false doctrines

»From the beginning, God’s servants have fought against false teachers, not merely as malicious people, but as injectors of untruths that were fatal to the soul. Elijah, Jeremiah, and Paul steadfastly and fearlessly opposed those who turned people away from the word of God. That liberalism which regards a correct religious faith as unimportant found no approval among these holy defenders of truth.«

Deceptive influence in the last days

»Judas delivers this message to warn believers of the seductive influence of false teachers – men who have a form of godliness but are not safe guides. In these last days false teachers will arise and become very active. All kinds of theories will be presented to distract the minds of men and women from the very truth that determines the position we can safely take ...«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
