What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "What happened to the sons of Lot, i.e., the Moabites and the Ammonites, i.e., what became of their peoples? It is that the daughters went with their father and became pregnant, which would perhaps be reprehensible in God's eyes, and what consequences followed from that."

Answer

The descendants of Lot, the peoples of the Moabites and Ammonites, were given by God's instruction their own territory as a permanent possession and therefore should not be attacked or harassed by Israel when it entered the promised land. Despite their problematic origin and later spiritual apostasy, which led to hostility toward God's people, God recognized their kinship to Abraham and Lot and initially protected their inheritance.

In the long term, however, idolatry and Israel's seduction into sin led to the proclamation of divine judgment over these peoples, which culminated in their later destruction. Lot's decision for Sodom and the influences of his family set in motion a chain of events that brought calamity to the world over many generations.

God's Protection for Lot's Descendants

»After they had passed south of Edom, the Israelites turned north toward the promised land. ... God had commanded: “Do not oppress Moab and do not engage in battle with them, for I will give you none of their land as a possession, because I have given it to the descendants of Lot.” The same was repeated concerning the Ammonites, who were also descendants of Lot.«

The Long-Term Consequences of Lot's Decisions

»Lot's marriage and his choice of Sodom as a home were the first links in a chain of events that brought disaster to the world for many generations. No one who fears God can associate with someone who does not fear Him without danger. ... The influence of an unbelieving companion will tend to lead one away from God.«

Prophecy Concerning the Destruction of Moab

»Before he returned to his people, Bileam spoke a beautiful and lofty prophecy about the Redeemer of the world and the final destruction of God's enemies: ... “A star will rise from Jacob and a scepter will arise from Israel and will crush the princes of Moab and destroy all the children of Seth.” And he concluded with a prediction of the complete destruction of Moab and Edom.«

Territorial Boundaries and Divine Command

»This territory was bounded in the south along the southeastern shore of the Dead Sea by Moab, while the eastern border of Reuben and Gad was held by Ammon. Both nations were not to be harassed by Israel on divine command.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
