Adventistische Schriften über: "What factors led to the conversion of Onesimus in the Epistle to Philemon?"

Answer

The conversion of Onesimus was primarily triggered by his encounter with the Apostle Paul in Rome. Paul first helped the runaway slave in his distress and poverty and then proclaimed to him the truth of the Gospel. Onesimus heard the message, confessed his sins, and turned to faith in Christ.

The Conversion of Onesimus in Rome

»Among those who, through Paul's ministry in Rome, gave their hearts to God, was Onesimus, a pagan slave who had wronged his master Philemon, a Christian believer in Colossae, and had fled to Rome. In the kindness of his heart, Paul sought to alleviate the poverty and distress of the unfortunate refugee, and then endeavored to let the light of truth shine into his darkened heart. Onesimus heard the words of life, confessed his sins, and was converted to faith in Christ.«

The Consequences of the Conversion

»Onesimus gained the affection of Paul through his piety and sincerity, as well as through his tender care for the apostle's comfort and his zeal in promoting the work of the Gospel. Paul recognized in him character traits that would make him a useful helper in missionary service, and he advised him to return to Philemon immediately, ask for forgiveness, and plan for the future. [...] It was a severe test for this servant to surrender himself to the Lord he had wronged; but he was truly converted, and he did not shy away from his duty.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
