What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "What exactly does “Seek first the Kingdom of God” mean?"
Answer
“Seek first the Kingdom of God” means making God and His Kingdom the highest interest, the center of all striving, and the foundation of every thought and plan. It requires subordinating worldly ambitions, selfish gratification, and political entanglements in order to instead reveal Christ’s character and righteousness in one’s own life. The promise states that God will provide for all necessary life needs when a person wholeheartedly dedicates themselves to His service.
God as the supreme priority in all areas of life
»Jesus says that He should be the First, Last, and Best in everything. We should not pursue any business, follow any ambition, or seek any pleasure that would hinder the development of His righteousness in our character and life. Whatever we do should be done from the heart as for the Lord.«
The Kingdom of Heaven as the highest goal above worldly concerns
»This is the primary great goal – the Kingdom of Heaven, the righteousness of Christ. Other goals to be achieved should be subordinate to this. ... Christ’s words are worth more than the opinions of all doctors in the universe: “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you.”«
God’s righteousness as the primary possession
»God’s righteousness, says Jesus, is the one thing one must seek in this life. Food and clothing are, in comparison, secondary. God will provide them naturally, so no anxious worry or sorrow need be directed toward them; but attaining God’s Kingdom and His righteousness should be the sole purpose of life.«
Separation from worldly interests and dedication
»God should be the center of attraction. Every mind on which the Holy Spirit works will be satisfied with Him. ... Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Make this the first and last. Strive most earnestly to know Him; truly knowing Him is eternal life. Christ and His righteousness are the salvation of the soul.«
Promise of physical provision
»What things does Christ refer to? The things necessary for livelihood. Christ’s Kingdom should stand above any other interest. ... But our heavenly Father knows that we need food and clothing. He feeds the sparrows and clothes the lilies; will He be any less attentive to the needs of His children?«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
