What does EGW write about...
Ellen Gould White über: "What event brings about the so‑called “little time of trouble” (before the plagues)? What does it accomplish?"
Answer
The beginning of the little time of trouble is initiated by a broader proclamation of the Sabbath truth, while Christ is still mediating in the heavenly sanctuary. This event incenses the churches and nominal Adventists, leading to persecution and great confusion in the land. At the same time, this period brings about the outpouring of the late harvest, which gives believers strength for the “loud call” and prepares them to endure during the coming seven last plagues.
The Proclamation of the Sabbath Truth and the Late Harvest
I saw that God has children who do not see and keep the Sabbath. They have not rejected the light concerning it. And at the beginning of the time of trouble we were filled with the Holy Spirit as we went out and proclaimed the Sabbath more fully. This incensed the churches and nominal Adventists, because they could not refute the Sabbath truth. And at that time all of God's chosen saw clearly that we had the truth, and they came out and endured persecution with us.
The “beginning of that time of trouble” mentioned here does not refer to the period when the plagues are poured out, but to a short interval immediately before it, while Christ is in the sanctuary. At that time, as the work of redemption is concluding, trouble will come upon the earth... At that time the “late harvest” or the refreshing from the face of the Lord will come, to give power to the loud voice of the third angel and to prepare the saints to stand during the time when the seven last plagues are poured out.
In the time of confusion and trouble before us, a time of trouble like never before since nations have existed, the exalted Savior will be presented to people in all nations, so that all who look to Him in faith may live.
