What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "What does Ellen White write about volcanic eruptions and exploding mountains in the end times?"
Answer
Ellen White describes that volcanic eruptions and the bursting of mountains in the end times will increase as signs of the imminent return of Christ. Underground fires ignite coal and oil deposits, which, when combined with water, cause massive explosions and the ejection of lava that can destroy entire cities. While the earth is shaken by these catastrophes, God promises his people protection and preservation, similar to Noah in the ark.
Volcanic eruptions and pillars of fire in the end times
»When lightning from heaven combines with fire in the earth, the mountains will burn like an oven and pour out terrible lava streams that flood gardens and fields, villages and cities. Boiling, molten masses thrown into the rivers will bring the water to a boil, hurl massive rocks with indescribable force upward and scatter their debris across the land. ... Everywhere there will be dreadful earthquakes and eruptions. Thus God will destroy the ungodly from the earth. But the righteous will be preserved amid these tremors.«
Increase of volcanic activity before the second coming
»Underground explosions that sound like muffled thunder occur when fire and water come into contact with rock layers and ores. The air is hot and suffocating. Volcanic eruptions follow; and because these often do not provide enough outlet for the heated elements, the earth itself is shaken... sometimes cities, villages, and burning mountains are engulfed. These marvelous phenomena will become increasingly frequent and more dreadful shortly before the second coming of Christ and the end of the world as signs of their imminent destruction.«
Shaking of the earth at God's intervention
»The mountains tremble like a pipe in the wind, and jagged rocks are scattered in all directions. ... The sea is set into a frenzy. One hears the howling of the hurricane. The whole earth rises and falls like the waves of the sea. Its surface cracks open. Its foundations seem to give way. Mountain ranges sink. Inhabited islands disappear. The proudest cities of the earth are reduced to the ground.«
