What does Ellen White write about...
Ellen Gould White über: "What does Ellen White write about the repetition of prayers?"
Answer
Ellen White distinguishes between thoughtless repetition and persistent prayer: Set phrases are merely formal prayers if they do not express the feelings of the heart. The Lord’s Prayer, too, should not merely be repeated as a form, but should serve as a model for simple and earnest prayers. At the same time, she encourages us to continue asking patiently and earnestly when an answer does not come.
Repetition without the involvement of the heart
»The repetition of set, customary phrases, when the heart feels no need of God, is formal prayer. […] Even the most eloquent prayers are only empty repetitions if they do not express the true feelings of the heart.«
The Lord’s Prayer as a model
»The Lord’s Prayer was not intended merely to be repeated as a form, but illustrates what our prayers should be: simple, earnest, and comprehensive. Tell the Lord in a simple request what you need, and express your gratitude for His mercy.«
Continue asking persistently
»Sometimes answers to our prayers come immediately; sometimes we must wait patiently and continue to ask earnestly for what we need. […] We should continue asking, even if we do not immediately see an answer to our prayers.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
