Ellen Gould White über: "What does Ellen say about Revelation 21:1"
Answer
Ellen G. White connects Revelation 21:1 with the final removal of sin and the curse. The new earth is described as a purified world in which the sea, which is regarded as a symbol of separation and suffering, no longer exists. Moreover, this new creation is portrayed as a place of eternal education and fellowship with God, with only the marks of Christ’s crucifixion remaining as an everlasting reminder of the victory over evil.
The New Earth as a School of the Future
»A new heaven and a new earth. And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. ... Heaven is a school; its field of study is the universe; its teacher is the Infinite. A branch of this school was established in Eden; and after the plan of redemption is completed, education in the school of Eden will be resumed.... The prophet of Patmos describes the place of the future school as follows: “I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.... And I, John, saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.”«
The Cleansing of the Earth from Every Trace of the Curse
»“I saw a new heaven and a new earth....” .... Every trace of the curse has been wiped away.... Only one remembrance remains: Our Savior will forever bear the marks of His crucifixion. On His wounded head, at His side, His hands and feet are the only marks of the cruel work that sin has wrought.«
The End of Separation Through the Sea
»No sea – The sea separates friends. It is a barrier between us and those we love. Our connections are broken by the vast, unfathomable ocean. In the new earth there will be no sea, and there will be no “galley with oars” passing by. ... Thank God, in the newly made earth there will be no raging torrents, no devouring ocean, no restless, murmuring waves.«
The Fire of Cleansing and the Eternal Inheritance
»“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.” The fire that consumes the ungodly cleanses the earth. Every trace of the curse is wiped away. No eternally burning hell will present the saved with the dreadful consequences of sin. Only one remembrance remains: Our Savior will forever bear the marks of His crucifixion.«
The Vision of John and Moses
»John, the revealer, was granted a view of the same land about which he writes: “I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away; and the sea was no more. And I, John, saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.”«
