What does Ellen White write about...

Ellen Gould White über: "What does EGW write about the new birth and being saved?"

Answer

Ellen White emphasizes that regeneration is the indispensable prerequisite for salvation and entrance into the kingdom of God, because man cannot renew his fallen heart by his own power. Only through the Holy Spirit and faith in the vicarious sacrifice of Jesus Christ is a new life wrought from above, whereby the believer is admitted into the family of God. This renewal grants a new heart and enables willing obedience and a life according to Christ's principles.

The Necessity of Renewal from Above for Salvation

»It is impossible for us, on our own, to escape the pit of sin in which we are sunk. Our hearts are evil, and we cannot change them. [...] There must be a power that works from within, a new life from above, before people can be transformed from sin to holiness. This power is Christ. His grace alone can animate the lifeless capacities of the soul and draw them toward God, toward holiness. The Savior said, “If anyone is not born from above”—unless he receives a new heart, new desires, intentions and motives that lead to a new life—“he cannot see the kingdom of God.” [...] Of Christ it is written: “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men”—the only “name under heaven given to humanity through which we must be saved.”«

Regeneration as the Only Way into the City of God

»Regeneration is the only way by which we can enter the city of God. It is narrow, and the gate through which we enter is tight; yet we are to lead men, women, and children to it and teach them that, in order to be saved, they must have a new heart and a new spirit. The old, inherited character traits must be overcome. The natural appetites of the soul must be changed. All deception, all falsehood, all evil speech must be discarded. The new life that makes men and women Christlike is to be lived.«

A New Life as a Child in God’s Family

»Through this simple act of faith in God, the Holy Spirit has begotten a new life in your heart. You are like a child who has been born into God’s family, and He loves you as He loves His Son. Since you have now surrendered to Jesus, do not withdraw, do not separate from Him, but say each day: “I belong to Christ; I have given myself to Him”; and ask Him to give you His Spirit and preserve you by His grace. Just as you become His child through surrender to God and faith in Him, so you should also live in Him.«

The Holy Spirit as the Working Power of Redemption

»The Spirit is given as a renewing power to make effective the salvation accomplished through the death of our Redeemer. The Spirit constantly strives to draw people’s attention to the great sacrifice offered on the cross of Golgotha, to unfold God’s love to the world, and to reveal to the converted soul the precious truths of Holy Scripture. By causing the conviction of sin and presenting the mind with the standard of righteousness, the Holy Spirit draws affection away from earthly things and fills the soul with a longing for holiness.«

True Transformation through the Divine Spirit

»The power of Christ alone can effect the transformation of heart and mind that all must experience who wish to partake in the new life of the heavenly kingdom with Him. “If anyone is not born again,” the Savior said, “he cannot see the kingdom of God.” [...] The religion that comes from God is the only religion that can lead to God. To serve Him rightly, we must be born of the divine Spirit. This will lead to vigilance. It will cleanse the heart and renew the mind, giving us a new ability to know and love God. It will grant us willing obedience to all His requirements.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
