Adventistische Schriften über: "What commandments apply to the Sabbath and where can I find them?"
Answer
The commandments for the Sabbath are found in the fourth commandment of the Decalogue, which was originally proclaimed at Sinai and written by God Himself on stone tablets. According to the scriptures, this commandment is an unchanging part of God's moral law and is preserved in its original form in the heavenly sanctuary.
The core commandment is to sanctify the seventh day (Saturday) as the Lord's day of rest, to do no secular work on it, and to honor it as a remembrance of creation. Practical observance includes preparation on the sixth day (Friday) so that the Sabbath can be spent undisturbed by everyday duties such as cooking or errands, in spiritual fellowship.
The Fourth Commandment at the Heart of the Decalogue
»Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God; on it you shall not do any work, neither you nor your son nor your daughter nor your servant nor your maid nor your livestock nor the foreigner who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.«
The Definition of the Sabbath Commandment
»The fourth commandment is remarkably precise. It includes, first, a directive: "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy"; second, an explanation of that directive: "Six days you shall labor and do all your work; but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God: on it you shall not do any work..."; third, the reasons upon which the directive is based, including the origin of the institution and the actions by which it was established... "for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth... and rested on the seventh day: therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.«
Practical Preparation for the Day of Rest
»On the sixth day, all necessary preparation for the Sabbath must be made.... All purchases should be completed and all cooking should be done on Friday. Take baths, clean shoes, and lay out clothing. The sick require care on the Sabbath, and whatever is necessary for their comfort is an act of mercy and not a violation of the commandment.... But none of our own work should be allowed to affect the holy time.«
The Unchanging Law in the Heavenly Sanctuary
»Within that holy ark is the Father's law, the same one that was spoken by God Himself amid the thunder of Sinai and written with His own finger on the stone tablets. Not a single commandment was abolished; not a jot or title was altered. While God gave Moses a copy of His law, He preserved the great original in the sanctuary above.«
Preparation During the Work Week
»Parents should demonstrate that they prepare for the Sabbath during the workdays of the week. All preparations should be made, every needlework completed in the six workdays; all cooking for the Sabbath should be finished on the preparation day. The commandment states: "Bake what you wish to bake today, and cook what you wish to cook; for tomorrow is the day of rest of the holy Sabbath." This day should not be devoted to cooking meals, indulgence, or secular occupation.«
