What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "Trust no one who throws laws around and does not keep them himself."
Answer
It is essential that the deeds of God's servants align with their words, for only a consistent life deserves respect and trust. When people preach principles that they themselves do not conscientiously live out, their words lose power and become like ringing brass. Especially the creation of strict rules for others while excusing one's own sins is described as dishonorable before God and dangerous for one's own soul.
Consistency of Life and Teaching
»The Lord’s workers cannot be careful enough to ensure that their deeds do not contradict their words, for only a consistent life can command respect. When our practice harmonizes with our teaching, our words will have effect; but a piety that is not based on conscientious principles is like salt without flavor. To speak and not act is like ringing brass and a resonant cymbal. It benefits us nothing to strive to sharpen principles that we ourselves do not conscientiously practice.«
Personal Practice Before Instructing Others
»If we have the desire to reform others, we must ourselves practice the principles we wish to impose on them. Words, no matter how good, will be powerless if daily life contradicts them. Servants of Christ, I admonish you: “Take care of yourself and the teaching.” Do not excuse in yourselves sins that you condemn in others. When you preach meekness and love, let these graces be exemplary in your own lives.«
The Danger of Iron Rules
»God will not justify any scheme whereby a person, even to the slightest degree, rules over or oppresses his fellow human. Once a person begins to set an iron rule for other people, he dishonors God and endangers his own soul as well as the souls of his brothers.«
Responsibility in Violating the Commandments
»In a special sense, those who claim to keep God's law dishonor Him and bring the truth into disrepute by transgressing its regulations.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
