Ellen Gould White über: "To what extent were the angels involved in the legislation?"
Answer
When the law was given at Sinai, the angels were present as representatives of God and a splendid retinue of the divine Majesty. They appeared like flames of fire and summoned the people with a trumpet sound, while the Lord descended amid ten thousand saints. Although the angels were present, God did not entrust the proclamation of the law to anyone, but spoke the Ten Commandments with his own audible voice to the people.
The Role of the Angels at Sinai
Angels were present as representatives of God when He gave the law at Sinai.
The angelic host that accompanied the divine Majesty called the people together with a sound like a trumpet that grew louder and louder until the whole earth trembled.
The divine Majesty descended in a cloud with a glorious retinue of angels who appeared like flames of fire.
To leave them without explanation, the Lord Himself descended onto Sinai, wrapped in glory and surrounded by His angels, and proclaimed His law of the Ten Commandments in a most exalted and awe‑inspiring manner. He entrusted the instruction to no one, not even to His angels, but spoke His law with an audible voice in the presence of the whole people.
Moses, who describes this scene, says: “The Lord came from Sinai… He shone forth from Mount Paran, and He came with ten thousand saints: from His right hand a fiery law for them.”
Two angels stood at each end of the ark… This, my accompanying angel informed me, represented the whole heavenly host, which gazes in reverent awe at God’s law that was written with the finger of God.
