What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "The user has written a desperate prayer and does not explicitly request source research, but the answer should draw from Ellen White's writings on assurance of salvation, peace in Christ, forgiveness, self‑condemnation, and addiction."

Answer

If feelings of helplessness, bondage, or self‑condemnation press upon the soul, Christ invites you to come to Him just as you are. True forgiveness and inner peace are unearned gifts of His grace, which are not based on wavering emotions but may be received through firm trust in His promises. Whoever turns their gaze away from their own weakness and fully entrusts themselves to Jesus finds assurance of salvation, rest, and strength for deliverance.

Accepting forgiveness and peace as a free gift of God

»The more you strive to escape, the more you become aware of your helplessness. Your motives are impure; your heart is unclean. You see that your life has been filled with selfishness and sin. You long to receive forgiveness, to be cleansed and set free. Harmony with God, being like Him—what can you do to attain that? It is peace that you need—the forgiveness of Heaven as well as peace and love in the soul. Money cannot buy it, intellect cannot obtain it, wisdom cannot acquire it; through your own efforts you can never hope to secure it. But God offers it to you as a gift, “without money and for free.” It belongs to you if you only stretch out your hand and grasp after it. ... Go now to Him and ask Him to wash away your sins and give you a new heart. Then believe that He does this because He has promised it.«

Comfort in trial and the feeling of one's own unworthiness

»Sometimes a deep sense of our unworthiness haunts the soul with terror, yet this is not proof that God has changed toward us or that we have changed toward God. ... Satan may whisper: “You are too great a sinner for Christ to save you.” While you acknowledge that you truly are sinful and unworthy, you may confront the tempter with the cry: “By the power of the atoning sacrifice I claim Christ as my Savior. I do not trust in my own merits, but in the precious blood of Jesus that cleanses me. In this moment I cling my helpless soul to Christ.” ... An unshakable trust, a firm reliance on Christ will bring the soul peace and assurance. Do not be discouraged because your heart seems hard. Every obstacle, every inner enemy only enlarges your need for Christ.«

Feelings are not a measure of acceptance by God

»Many make a serious mistake in their religious life by focusing their attention on their feelings and thus judging their spiritual progress or regression. Feelings are not a reliable criterion. We should not search within ourselves for proof of our acceptance by God. We will find nothing there except what will discourage us. Our only hope is to “look up to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” ... If we rely on His merits, we will find rest, peace, and joy. He completely saves all who come to God through Him. We must trust Jesus daily and hourly.«

Unconditional grace and healing of all weaknesses

»Come to God just as you are, and let Him heal all your weaknesses. Bring your concern before the throne of grace; let the work be thorough. ... Jesus is the only One who can give you peace. He has loved you and gave Himself for you. ... What sins would be too great for Him to forgive? What soul too dark and sin‑enslaved for Him to save? He is gracious and does not look for merits in us, but heals from His boundless goodness our waywardness and loves us freely while we are still sinners.«

The assurance of faith and the surrender to Christ

»Faith, saving faith ... is the action of the soul by which the whole person is handed over to the care and lordship of Jesus Christ. He remains in Christ and Christ remains through faith as the Highest in the soul. The believer entrusts his soul and his body to God and may confidently say: Christ is able to preserve the good entrusted to me until that day. All who do this will be saved to eternal life. There will be the assurance that the soul is washed in the blood of Christ, clothed with His righteousness, and precious in the eyes of Jesus.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
