In times of severe pain and hardship, there is often a great temptation to turn to numbing agents to find quick relief. However, the Scriptures remind us that Jesus has won victory for us and gives us the strength to overcome temptations and find hope. Instead of using harmful substances for pain relief, we are invited to follow His example step by step and seek His help in harmony with the laws of life.

Following Jesus on the path of reform and confronting pain

»Jesus overcame the appetite, and so we can do the same. Let us therefore advance step by step in the reform until all our habits align with the laws of life and health. The Redeemer of the world fought in the desert of temptation on our behalf rather than the battle concerning appetite. As our guarantor He has overcome and thereby made it possible for man to overcome in His name ... A practice that lays the foundation for a great amount of disease and even more serious evils is the free use of poisonous drugs. When many are afflicted by illness, they do not take the trouble to investigate the cause of their suffering. Their main concern is to get rid of pain and discomfort.«
