What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "The tenth part belongs to God; in the 10 plagues, the tenth plague is the death of the firstborn, the part that belongs to God, meaning it is no coincidence that the 10 plagues were chosen, 9 with grace and the tenth without grace, meaning the pattern of plagues always consists of 10."

Answer

The Scriptures confirm that God claims the tenth part of the yield as His property, while He leaves nine tenths to the person for free use. In the case of the Egyptian plagues, the judgment over the firstborn, which God had warned about at the beginning, was carried out as the final and decisive plague after Egypt remained stubborn despite previous punishments. While judgments before the end of the grace period are always mixed with mercy, the conclusion of the grace period marks the point at which God's wrath is poured out without any mixture of grace.

The Tenth as God's Holy Share

»As for the required amount, God has fixed one tenth of the increase. This is left to the conscience and charity of people... God called on people in the Mosaic household to give a tenth of their entire increase. He demanded a tenth, and He claims this as the minimum that a person should return to Him. He says: I give you nine tenths while I demand one tenth; that belongs to Me. When people withhold that one tenth, they rob God.«

The Tenth Plague as Threatened and Final Judgment

»When the demand for Israel's release was first presented to the king of Egypt, the warning about the most dreadful plague had already been given... The judgment that Egypt was first warned about was to be carried out as the last. God is long-suffering and rich in grace... If the loss of their crops and herds had led Egypt to repentance, the children would not have been struck; but the nation stubbornly resisted the divine command, and now the final blow was imminent.«

Grace and the End of the Testing Time

»All punitive judgments over people before the end of the grace period were mixed with mercy. The interceding blood of Christ has protected the sinner from receiving the full measure of his guilt; but in the final judgment, wrath is poured out without any mixture of grace.«

The Limit of Divine Patience

»We receive the terrible and serious lesson that God's mercy may be patient with the transgressor for a long time, but there is a limit beyond which people may not continue in sin. When this limit is reached, the offers of grace are withdrawn and the work of judgment begins.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
