Adventistische Schriften über: "The Search for Wisdom in Job 28"
Answer
Job 28 demonstrates that true wisdom cannot be found through exploring the earth nor through riches or human effort. While the depth and the sea explain that wisdom is not in them, God reveals that He alone knows its place. The search ends in the realization that reverence for the Lord is true wisdom and avoiding evil means understanding.
God alone knows the place of wisdom
»“Where is wisdom found? And where is the place of understanding? Man does not know its price, and it is not found in the land of the living. The depth says: In me it is not; and the sea says: With me it is not. It cannot be bought for gold, nor can silver be weighed as its price... Where then does wisdom come from? And where is the place of understanding?... Destruction and death say: We have heard its call with our ears. God understands its way, and He knows its place. For He looks to the ends of the earth and sees under the whole heaven... When He created a law for rain and a way for the thunderbolt, He saw wisdom and proclaimed it; He prepared it, yes, He explored it. And to man He said: Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to turn away from evil is understanding.”«
True wisdom through humility and revelation
»Neither by exploring the depths of the earth nor in futile efforts to penetrate the mysteries of God's nature is wisdom found. It is found rather in humbly receiving the revelation that He has willingly given, and adapting one's life to His will. Let us learn from the presentations that the Holy Spirit has given to His prophets the greatness of our God.«
The source of spiritual insight
»We will only advance in true spiritual insight when we recognize our own smallness and our complete dependence on God; but all who come to the Bible with a teachable and prayer‑filled spirit to study its statements as the Word of God will receive divine illumination... Where then does wisdom come from? And where is the place of understanding?... You will have to struggle with difficulties, bear burdens, plan and execute, while constantly looking to God for help.«
True wisdom vs. worldly education
»Many of the so‑called wise men and women of the world are only wise in their own assessment. They are satisfied with acquiring worldly wisdom and never enter God's garden to become acquainted with the treasures of knowledge contained in His holy Word... They must learn that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and that without this wisdom their scholarship is of little value.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
