The late rain is described as a refreshing from the presence of the Lord, preparing God's people for the end of the third angel's call and the coming time of testing. During this period the sealing is completed, after which Jesus ends his ministry in the sanctuary and closes the time of grace with the solemn declaration that each person's condition is now fixed. Once the sealing is fulfilled, God's protection is drawn over His people to safeguard them from the forthcoming plagues.
The Completion of the Sealing and the Late Rain
I was directed to the time when the message of the third angel ended. God's power rested upon His people; they had completed their work and were prepared for the hour of testing that lay before them. They had received the late rain, or the refreshing from the presence of the Lord, and the living testimony had been newly revived.
I saw angels in heaven coming and going. An angel returned from the earth with a scribe’s writing instrument at his side and reported to Jesus that his work was done, that the saints had been counted and sealed. Then I saw Jesus ... cast down the censer. He raised his hands and said in a loud voice: It is finished.
Satan tried every one of his arts to keep them where they were, until the sealing was over and the protective covering was drawn over God’s people, so that they would remain without protection from the burning wrath of God in the seven last plagues.
I saw that Jesus would not leave the Most Holy Place until every case had been decided either for redemption or for destruction and that God’s wrath could not come until Jesus had finished his work in the Most Holy Place... Then Jesus will step forth between the Father and the people, and God will no longer be silent, but will pour out his wrath upon those who have rejected his truth.
God has begun to draw this covering over His people, and it will very soon be drawn over all who are to have a refuge on the day of the slaughter. God will act with power for His people; and Satan will be allowed to act as well.
