Ellen Gould White über: "The Seal of God"
Answer
The seal of God is found in the fourth commandment of the Decalogue, as this alone reveals the name and title of the Lawgiver as Creator. This seal is the Sabbath, which serves as a sign of God's authority and as a covenant sign between Him and His people. People who receive this seal must be prepared through a holy life and must not carry impurity or love of the world in their hearts.
The Sabbath as the Seal in the Law
The seal of God's law is found in the fourth commandment. This alone among the ten makes both the name and the title of the Lawgiver visible. It declares Him as the Creator of heaven and earth and thus shows His claim to worship and adoration above all others. ... When the Sabbath was altered by papal power, the seal was removed from the law. The disciples of Jesus are called to restore it by raising the Sabbath of the fourth commandment to its rightful position as a monument of the Creator and a sign of His authority.
Requirements for Receiving the Seal
The seal of God will never be placed on the forehead of an unclean man or an unclean woman. It will never be placed on the forehead of an ambitious, world‑loving man or woman. ... All who receive the seal must be spotless before God – candidates for heaven. ... Study the Scriptures yourselves so that you may understand the dreadful solemnity of the present hour.
The Significance of the Sabbath as God's Seal
This seal is the Sabbath. I saw that the time for Jesus in the Most Holy Place was almost over and that this time can now be very short; and whatever free time we have should be spent studying the Bible, which will judge us in the last days.
The Sabbath as an Eternal Covenant Sign
The observance of the Sabbath is the sign between God and His people. Let us not be ashamed to bear the sign that distinguishes us from the world. ... “Observe my Sabbaths; for this is a sign between me and you through all your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.”
