Adventistische Schriften über: "The prophetic significance of the Feast of Tabernacles for the future"
Answer
The Feast of Tabernacles possesses a significant prophetic dimension, as it symbolizes the completion of the entire plan of redemption and the final consummation of salvation history. It represents the counterpart to the time after the investigative judgment, when Christ leads His redeemed into the heavenly Canaan, where they will be forever freed from the curse of sin.
Furthermore, the feast points to the great joy and jubilation of God's people, which takes place after the final gathering in the Kingdom of God. In the heavenly home, the redeemed will behold the glory of Jesus and experience a fellowship that was prefigured by the image of the “Camp of the Saints” and the dwelling in booths during the wilderness wanderings.
The consummation of the plan of redemption
»The Feast of Tabernacles was the final feast in the annual cycle of service and symbolized the ultimate completion of the entire plan of redemption. It began on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when the harvests of fields, vineyards, and olive groves had all been brought in.«
The feast as a counterpart to heavenly Canaan
»The Feast of Tabernacles followed the Day of Atonement, which finds its counterpart in the judgment; therefore it must typify an event that occurs after the conclusion of the judgment. When Christ leaves the heavenly sanctuary, it will only be a short time before He comes to earth to gather His people. Then He will take them up into heaven, where they will see the glory that He had with the Father before the world existed.«
Eternal joy of the redeemed
»But when the Lord’s redeemed have been safely brought into the heavenly Canaan, forever freed from the bondage of the curse... then they will rejoice with unspeakable and glorious joy. Christ’s great work of atonement for humanity will then be completed, and their sins will be forever eradicated.«
The camp of the saints
»TYPE: The people dwelt in booths, they lived a camp life. COUNTERPART: The dwelling place of the redeemed, before the earth is renewed, will be called the “Camp of the Saints”. All who were born as Israelites could participate in the Feast of Tabernacles. It is the “new birth” that qualifies a person to partake in the “Camp of the Saints”.«
The final gathering of God’s people
»It likely typifies the great rejoicing after the final assembly of all God’s people in His kingdom.«
- Meaning of the Day of Atonement in the investigative judgment
- The heavenly Canaan and the redeemed
- The harvest as a symbol for the end of the world
