Ellen White describes the Holy Spirit as an independent personality and as the “third Person of the Godhead,” who works with full divine power. The nature of the Holy Spirit is a mystery. People cannot explain it because the Lord has not revealed it to them. People with imaginative views may piece together scriptures and give them a human interpretation, but adopting these views will not strengthen the congregation. Regarding such mysteries that are too deep for human understanding, silence is golden.
The Spirit as Witness and Heart Researcher
The Holy Spirit comes into the world as Christ’s representative. He not only speaks the truth, but He is the truth—the faithful and truthful witness. He is the great investigator of hearts and is familiar with the character of all.
