By issuing a decree to enforce the establishment of the papacy in violation of God's law, our nation will completely separate itself from righteousness. When Protestantism stretches its hand over the abyss to grasp the hand of Roman power... then we can know that the time for Satan's marvelous work has come and that the end is near.
The dignitaries of church and state will unite to bribe, persuade, or force all classes to honor Sunday. The absence of divine authority will be replaced by oppressive regulations. ... Even in free America, rulers and legislators... will yield to the people's demand for a law to enforce Sunday observance.
Finally, a decree will be issued against those who sanctify the Sabbath of the fourth commandment. They will be deemed worthy of the harshest punishment, and the people will be given the liberty to kill them after a certain period. Romanism in the Old World and fallen Protestantism in the New will take a similar stance toward those who honor all divine commandments.
The enforcement of Sunday sanctification by the Protestant churches is an enforcement of the worship of the papacy—the beast. ... In the act of imposing a religious duty through secular power, the churches themselves would form an image of the beast.
The Sunday movement is now forging its way in the darkness. The leaders conceal the true problem... Their confessions are mild and seemingly Christian, but when they speak, they will reveal the spirit of the dragon. It is our duty to do everything within our power to avert the looming danger.
